Community Outreach

As a strong Jamaican company known for its rich heritage of being a part of the GraceKennedy Group of Companies, First Global Financial Services, FGFS has embraced the company’s core values of honesty, integrity and trust in all its business processes and personal relationships in all its departments and branches.

In light of that, FGFS has made considerable community investments and charitable grants across Jamaica that are in line with the company’s thrust to impact positively on the lives of Jamaicans in the areas of education, health and the humanities. In doing that, FGFS intends to continue making a meaningful impact on the socio and economic well being of the communities served by its varied branch network.

BUILD JAMAICA WITH MUSIC

In keeping with its commitment of contributing to the education of the Jamaican youth while supporting the Jamaican culture, FGFS launched its “Build Jamaica with Music” initiative in June 2008.

What is “Build Jamaica with Music”

This programme is designed to encourage young Jamaicans to appreciate the wonderful art form of music and see it as another avenue for self development and to earn a living.
The project also aims to preserve Jamaica’s music traditions and to encourage music literacy among children. FGFS sees this project as a major social investment in Jamaica especially in pointing the children in alternate musical directions.

FGFS SUPPORTS TOMORROW'S CHILDREN

First Global Financial Services Limited has lent its support to the Utech Centre for the Arts “Tomorrow’s Children” summer programme. This summer programme, a major community outreach project is designed for children aged 5 to 14 who are drawn from the various strata of our society and brought together in unique settings for re-socialization through the Arts.

In the 2008 programme, the organizers introduced a new element to the programme, that of the art of Business and Finance to show students how the creative, prudent management of finance is beneficial for personal growth and the growth of our nation.

At the launch, Vice President for Funds Administration at FGFS, Janice Longmore lauded the programme and encouraged the children to pursue their goals be it dancing, drama and music. She cited her sister’s success in the Arts as a positive example in how persistence, determination and the ability to dream big can accomplish great rewards.

The programme was concluded with FGFS organizing a field trip to First Global Bank and the Jamaica Stock Exchange where students learnt about banking and received valuable information about how to invest and trade on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
